Dean of Education and Counseling
Professional: Dr. Dixon taught secondary school business and computer courses for 13 years, which included four years at an international school in Nairobi, Kenya. She began her career in higher education by teaching at Chemeketa Community College’s Santiam Campus, as well as teaching computer skills to incarcerated individuals pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. She also spent 11 years teaching MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) candidates at George Fox University, and supporting and directing the university’s regional sites in Salem, Redmond, and Boise. Dr. Dixon joined Corban in 2013.
Personal: Kristin likes traveling (she has been to more than 30 countries), hiking, drinking coffee with family and friends, spending time with family, and serving at her church.
Why Corban: “First of all, I believe teaching and counseling represent a calling from the Lord, which provides significant opportunity to love, educate, guide and influence others. Corban has a strong presence in the local school communities—both public and private, faith-based schools—as well as the work preparing teachers in Indonesia. Our counseling department is preparing counselors to bring healing to individuals with significant wounds and help them find greater freedom. It is a privilege to serve beside both educators and counselor-educators, knowing the long-term spiritual impact these professions have on others.”
