Dr. Michael Patterson
|Provost and Chair of the Behavioral Science Department|
B.S., Corban University (Theology)
M.A., Liberty University (Professional Counseling)
Ph.D., Trinity Theological Seminary (Biblical Counseling)
Dr. Mike Patterson currently serves as the Provost, as well as Chair of the Behavioral Science Department.
In addition to his Provost duties, Dr. Patterson is a national certified counselor, board certified professional Christian counselor, licensed mental health counselor (Wa.), and licensed minister of the gospel. His counseling interests focus on marriage and family, men’s issues, personality disorder, and the integration of psychology and theology, which inspired his doctoral dissertation on “The Proverbial Fool: A Biblical Perspective on the Disordered Personality.”
In his free time, Dr. Patterson enjoys kayaking, hiking, biking, and camping with his wife Kathy, as well as working on his classic 1967 Mustang—which, incidentally, was his first car. Recently, he’s been learning how to cook on a pellet smoker (similar to a traeger).
Dr. Patterson has a long history with Corban: his father served on the Board of Trustees, he met Kathy here, he’s served on the Board, two of his children attended, and he hopes his grandchildren will, too, “all because we believe in the mission and vision of the University.”
