This is a perfect opportunity for Corban students who are studying Education, Special Education, Psychology, or may be considering a career in Medicine, Nursing, Counseling, or any of the Allied Health Professions. 
This work takes a special person with a giant heart and a burning desire to help individuals with special needs. Applicants must be reliable, punctual, strong physically and emotionally, ready to get dirty and play, creative, great at redirection, an innovative communicator, and stellar examples of professionalism to their peers and members of the community.  
Those selected for this job will provide direct support to a 16-year-old young man who experiences Autism Spectrum Disorder and requires support in nearly every aspect of daily living.  
You will receive training and experience which you cannot get in the classroom. You will use communication supports, implement a Positive Behavior Support Plan, and access tools and strategies to keep your client safe at home and in the community.  
All staff become members of SEIU (Service Employees International Union Local 503) and those who work at least 40 hrs. a month will have access to The Oregon Homecare Workers Supplemental Trust and/or the Oregon Homecare Workers Benefit Trust to help with medical benefits. You may also qualify for paid time off, mileage, and will receive training through the Oregon Dept. of Human Services Home Care Commission.  
The background process for PSWs is very lengthy so you’ll need to get started right away on the process! 
Minimum Requirements: (1) At least 18 years of age (2) Valid Driver License/Proof of Liability Insurance, Reliable/safe transportation (3) Eligible to work in the United States (we cannot sponsor Visas) (4) Must have a clear Criminal History and pass an EXTENSIVE background check through INTERPOL, FBI, Oregon State Police, Oregon Dept. of Human Services (including fingerprinting). NO Exceptions.
