Job Title: Student Ministries Director

The Student Ministries Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of ministry to Middle School and High School students, working with volunteer staff and youth sponsors to disciple teens to love Jesus and serve others in His name .

Ministry Area/Department: Student Ministry

Accountable To: Pastor for day-to-day, ultimately to the Elder Board

Ministry Target: 6th thru 12th grade students

Compensation: $35-45,000 offered; commensurate with education and experience

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree and three years working with students

Minimum Maturity Level: Stable, maturing Christian

Anticipated Time Commitments

Doing ministry/preparing for ministry: Full-time up to 50 hours per week 

Participating in other meetings/training: as needed


  • Be an example for believers “ in speech, in life , in love, in faith and in purity ” (1 Timothy 4:12)
  • Encourage students to grow through age appropriate large group worship and small group discipleship
  • Create a grace-filled atmosphere where students experience authentic biblical community in Christ
  • Provide gospel-drenched teaching on Sunday mornings, at youth group meetings, special events, etc.
    • Personally teach or arrange for approved teachers and review lesson plans ahead of time
  • Plan and promote student activities during the school year and breaks, including the following:
    • An annual trip to Cove Palisades State Park for spiritual growth, camping and water activities
    • CBNW activities: Winter Youth Celebration for High School and Growth Getaway for Middle School 
  • Pay attention to important details necessary to administer the student ministry of our church
    • Keep a calendar of youth ministry activities, event and trip registration forms, list of students and leaders
    • Follow the church Youth/Child Workers policy guidelines for student safety at all times and in all places
    • Know student names and keep up-to-date records of contact info and the responsible parent/guardian
    • Submit an annual budget to fund youth ministry activities, supplies and equipment; not including fees
  • Recruit, encourage and develop volunteer youth staff and sponsors (seminars, training, articles, books, etc.)
    • Make sure each weekly volunteer has completed all required paperwork before beginning
  • Communicate with parents in a way that solicits their input and respond promptly to expressed concerns
  • Maintain supportive ministry networks with other youth pastors and student ministries in town and CBNW
  • Other responsibilities as determined to be in line with the Director’s gifting and church needs
