Job Description:

Provide safe, dependable, and nurturing care for children ages birth through 4 years while their parents are involved in church services

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursery care for Sunday services and the occasional evening service:
    • Sunday services are scheduled from 10:00 am to approximately 11:30 am.
    •  Evening services (Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, etc.) typically start at 7pm and continue until 9pm.
      •  *Advance notice will be given 4 weeks before a scheduled evening service
    •  Easter Vigil starts at 9pm the Saturday night before Easter Sunday and goes until approximately 12am
    •                - Arrive promptly 15 minutes before the scheduled service and stay until children are picked up by an approved adult
  • Be familiar with and follow all church policies related to the nursery
  • Be present in the nursery for the duration of the service or ensure a co-worker is present if you need to step out for any length of time (i.e. for bathroom breaks or to alert a parent)
    •                - No phone use unless to alert a parent or in the case of emergencies
  • Greet parents and make sure children are signed in on the attendance form
  • Ensure children’s registration slips are up to date
  • Educate parents on pertinent policies as applicable (wellness policy, nursery rules, etc.)
  • Interact with children and foster an environment of support and encouragement
  • Provide age appropriate care, which may include: feeding, changing diapers, escorting children to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding or rocking children, and/or cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play, and prayer
  • Check children out
  • Ensure nursery is clean and sanitized

Qualifications:

  • 17 years of age or older
  • CPR/First aid certification (may be obtained after hire)
  • Safeguarding God’s Children Training (may be obtained after hire)
  • Background check
  • Cover letter, resume, and 3 work related references
  • Record of tuberculin status and current immunization or a declination form
  • A cell phone with texting capabilities
