Job Title: Sports and Fitness Coordinator

Supervisor: Director of Operations

Department: Sports and Fitness

Hours: Exempt - Full Time

A degree in Exercise Science (or a closely related field) or certification from a nationally reputable organization preferred. A minimum of Three (3) yrs. experience in teaching, training, and supervising personnel.

First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Scope of Position: The Sports and Fitness Coordinator is responsible for supervising, teaching, developing, scheduling, and training in the Sports and Fitness Department at The Kroc Center in Salem, OR.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge Required: use a computer effectively and efficiently in the working environment; use standard office machines (e.g., fax, copier, multi-line telephone, keyboard); use standard office practices and procedures; read, write, and speak the English language to express ideas and communicate effectively.

Skill Required: use Microsoft software (primarily Outlook, Word and Excel; occasionally Publisher and PowerPoint) to correctly create basic documents (notes, memos, emails) and reports; use of various types of sports equipment.

Ability Required: Interact with individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards; use interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others in favorable and unfavorable situations; respond appropriately to emergency situations; train, plan, and direct the work of others; organize, prioritize, and plan own work; multitask, i.e., change work focus or respond to change of conditions and interruptions in work flow; learn new systems and procedures; problem solve, i.e., the ability to identify problems and find effective solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee and coordinate all group exercise, personal training, educational programs, and fitness classes.
• Coordinate, train, and supervise volunteers.
• Recruit, hire, schedule, and supervise fitness staff.
• Plan, organize, and implement staff trainings.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct report staff.
• In cooperation with the Director of Operations, develop an annual sports and fitness budget and maintain strict adherence to that budget.
• Conduct regular inventory of all equipment and supplies; order replacements when necessary.
• Develop program guides and other sports and fitness materials.
• Complete applicable reports and maintain accurate records; ensure liability waivers are on file for all participants.
• Teach or train a combination of group exercise, personal training and youth sports as needed. Must be able to sub all group exercise classes.
• Conduct participant questionnaires to assess program successes and deficiencies.
• Coordinate special events within the Kroc Center.
• Act as Manager on Duty (MOD), as assigned.
• Manage disputes with participants, parents, and staff.
