Children and Youth Ministry Director

The Children and Youth Ministry Director demonstrates the qualities of  a dynamic, strong and organized leader who recruits, equips, trains, and releases a largely volunteer led ministry.  Experience preferred.  The Children and Youth Ministry Director reports to the Associate Pastor and should refer questions pertaining to the position to her.  The following duties are the responsibility of the Children and Youth Ministry Director.

Hours:  25-30 hours/week

  • Sunday mornings 8:30 - 12:00
  • Tuesday staff meeting 11:00 - 12:30
  • Midweek preparation, varied


  • Oversee cradle-to-college ministries.
  • Oversee Children’s Coordinator and Youth Leader.
  • Recruit teachers for 0-5th grade and build a rotating volunteer team.
  • Provide leader and teacher training and appreciation (thank-yous and little gifts of encouragement).
  • Provide pastoral care and leadership to volunteer team.
  • Develop and execute a vision for discipleship happening in families.
  • Follow guidelines and procedures as outlined in the Foursquare Child and Youth Protection Manual.

Coordinate with Children’s Ministry Coordinator in the following areas:

  • Provide friendly greetings to all parents and children.
  • Schedule Sunday School volunteers.
  • Work with Administrative Pastor to ensure Sunday check-in runs smoothly.
  • Conduct background checks for all volunteers and staff.
  • Check readiness of nursery and classrooms on Sunday morning.
    • Teachers are responsible for tidying and vacuuming classrooms after class on Sunday mornings.
  • Decorate classrooms.
  • Purchase and refill classroom supplies.  Keep supplies clean and orderly.
  • Work with staff to find childcare for First Fridays, special events, and leadership meetings.

Children’s Curriculum

  • Coordinate with Children’s Ministry Coordinator to find curriculum for each age group.
  • Coordinate with Children’s Ministry Coordinator to distribute lessons, set up classrooms and communicate with teachers regarding resources they may need.

Special Church Events

It is anticipated that staff members will help with church events (planning, setting up, participating, and cleaning up) unless other arrangements have been made with the Lead Pastor prior to the event.  Hours worked during an event may be compensated for by adjusting schedules the following week, subject to approval by the Lead Pastor.
