Dr. Stanek is a native of Spokane, WA. He received a B.M. in Music Education and a M.M. in Music Performance from the University of Idaho and a D.A. in Music Performance with a minor in Orchestral Conducting from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Prior to coming to Corban University in the fall of 2013, he was Visiting Professor of Music at Indiana University East in Richmond, IN and Adjunct Instructor of Music at Anderson University in Anderson, IN. While in Indiana he was also active as an orchestra conductor and a performer on classical and jazz guitar.
He is a member of the College Orchestra Directors Association and Pi Kappa Lambda (national music honorary society).
He lives in Salem with his wife Emily and son Christopher. When not involved in music, he enjoys going on walks with his wife and son, reading and film.
