Are you clear to graduate?

Click on the appropriate links below to find out if you have completed all the necessary steps to ensure that you will be able to graduate and participate in the commencement ceremony.

 

Requirements:

Fill out an application to graduate:   
Students must apply for graduation by filling out an application form and paying the nonrefundable graduation fee.  The application must be received by the deadlines posted in the college catalog.  Undergraduates will fill out a paper application form to be picked up in the registrar’s office.  ADP and graduate students apply online for graduation.

Transcripts from other institutions:
All official transcripts from other institutions must be received in the Registrar’s office by April 1st.  Seniors enrolled in a spring quarter class at a community college will have their graduation delayed until the following December.  Participation in the graduation ceremony will be delayed until the following spring.

General course requirements:
Refer to the University Catalog.

Settle all financial obligation to the University

Commencement:
Commencement exercises take place once a year in May. 

Diplomas:
Please make sure that we have your current mailing address on file. Diplomas for students graduating in August or December will be mailed once a final degree audit is completed and degrees are posted.

Undergraduate Students

 

Requirements:

Graduation application approved by your advisor (major/minor) and the registrar.

Completion of Reach requirements:

Reach

Reach is a graduation requirement. Two service opportunities are to be completed in a church ministry and four in community service.

  • A two-year degree (A.A.) requires 3 credits.
  • A four-year degree (B.S.) requires 6 credits.

The number of credits required for transfer students will be prorated as follows according to the number of credits transferred to Corban.

  • Less than 30 semester hours 6 credits required
  • 31-44 semester hours 5 credits required
  • 45-61 semester hours 4 credits required
  • 62-92 semester hours 3 credits required
  • More than 93 semester hours 2 credits required

The Reach requirement may be satisfied during summer vacations, but plans must be submitted and approved by the director prior to the activity. No more than two Reach credits may be earned in one semester or during the summer. Students are required to have all but one Reach credit complete before the end of the first semester of their senior year.

Complete all surveys, inventories and departmental or institutional assessments as requested.

Favorable vote of the faculty.

Incompletes:
All incomplete grades must be completed and grades must be filed with the registrar before the end of the term in which graduation is planned.

Participation in graduation:
It is expected that all graduating students will be present at the commencement except in cases of extreme emergency or circumstances beyond their control. Notice to graduate in absentia must be given to the registrar well in advance. In order to participate in commencement exercises, a student must have completed all degree requirements (including Reach).

The commencement ceremony is in May. Graduates (those who have completed all requirements) are welcome to participate and celebrate at this time. Diplomas will be mailed for the December and August graduates as soon as all requirements are fulfilled.

Graduate Students

The commencement ceremony is in May. Graduates are welcome to participate and celebrate at this time. Diplomas will be mailed for the December and August graduates as soon as all requirements are fulfilled.

Announcements

JostensWe will have a representative from Jostens on campus on February 20, 2014 at our Grad Finale (RESCHEDULED). They can assist you with ordering graduation announcements, class rings or other graduation items. You may also go online and order directly from the Jostens website here.

Rehearsal

Rehearsal will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, starting at 12:15 p.m. in the Salem Armory Auditorium.

Students are asked to be in their cap and gowns and seated in their assigned seats at the 12:15 p.m. start time. All graduates must plan to attend. There is no food available onsite, so plan accordingly.  Students will then proceed to the commencement staging area to line-up.

Tickets

Corban University Commencement is a ticketed event. Tickets are not required for children under 2 years of age. Ticketed guests are encouraged to be seated by 1:50 p.m. Guests will not be allowed to enter the auditorium during the processional or recessional. *Anyone requiring special seating should arrive no later than 1:30 p.m.

Number of Tickets:

Each student participating in graduation will be permitted a set number of tickets for his/her guests. This set number is based on anticipated participation and available seating. This upcoming year 6 tickets will be available per graduate.

How to Get Tickets:

Tickets are only available to eligible candidates for graduation who have filled out an application for graduation and indicated that they would be participating in graduation. If these two criteria are met, tickets will be available to pick up at the Grad Finale.

Extra Tickets:

The number of extra tickets issued to graduates will be limited based on availability. If you need extra tickets we recommend checking with others who are graduating to see if they are using all of their tickets. You may also request extra tickets online by clicking here. This is not a guarantee that extra tickets will be available.

Graduates:
Participating graduating students do not need a ticket for themselves.

Strollers

Due to space limitations strollers will not be allowed in the Auditorium for graduation.
